Expanding Horizons: Exploring Possibilities

DPI's Executive Director, Dabesaki Mac-Ikemenjima spoke at a one day interactive symposium with thetheme: Expanding Horizons: Exploring Possibilities. The symposium was organized with support from Development Partnership International, at the Rivers State College of Education and had various guest speakers including: Mr. Pius Barikume, a renowned artist in the college.

Dabesaki spoke on the theme of the symposium and shared models on how information and communication technology can be used as a potent tool to transform traditional teaching and learning methodology, opportunities available in various fields of learning and how to use academic subjects to address social change and development issues.

Participants at this symposium were mainly final year students at the college. It is hoped that they gained some insight into the steps required to help them plan their exit from the school and get engaged in productive activities that will better their lives after graduation from the college.

Dabesaki was previously involved with the students leaders ICT Conference at the college in 2003 and has been inspiring various student level initiatives at that level, and actively engaging the students during the traditional students week.
